Non-stop fire incidents in Mohmand district.

Like other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the prequent incidents of fires in different mountains of Mohmand district is increasing day by day. Fires incidents have been reported in Pandiali, Safi and Ambar mountains of Mohmand district since last week. Similarly, on June 4, fires broke out in 7 different areas and mountains of Mohmand district. A total of 13 fire incidents have been reported in different tehsils of Mohmand district in the last two week. In the affected areas and mountains, are Janda Check Post Lakaro, Mountains of Tehsil Khewazi Baizai, Angor Kor Tehsil Ekkaghund, Darwazgai 2 ,The mountains of Tamanzai include Pandiali Tehsil, Danishkol Tehsil Pandiali, Shamshah, Baidmani and Pak-Afghan border area Manzari Cheena. Rescue 1122, Pakistan Red Crescent Staff and Volunteers, Forest Department, Wildlife, District Administration and police personnel reached the fire on foot due to lack of roads and difficult routes to the mountain range and effectively responded. Pak-Afghan border areas Manzari Cheena, Shamshah and Baidmani are facing difficulties in extinguishing fires. Rescue 1122 firefighters are taking part in putting out fires in the mountains of these border areas. Rescue 1122 Mohmand teams have been engaged in extinguishing the fire since last night under the supervision of District Emergency Officer Iftikhar Khan Yousafzai on the instructions of DG Rescue 1122 Dr. Khatir Ahmed. It should be noted that the fire is spreading in the mountain range. Due to strong winds, flames and heat, it is difficult to put out the fire. There are no special firefighting equipments with Rescue 1122 team and others aid workers Volunteers therefore state-of-the-art machinery needed for firefighting in the mountains. Keeping in view prequent incidents of forest fire the district administration of Mohmand with support of the Forest department, Rescue 1122, PRCS Mohmand and others stakeholders has formed Forest Fire Management Team (FFMTs) at district level to prevent such incidents in future. Deputy Commissioner Arifullah Awan told that 1122 and Forest department were assigned to prepare a contegency plan on the forest fire incidents in the tribal district. Arifullah said that a control room was also setup in the DC office to monitor the fire incidents in the area.
